Good to hear from an ex-HCU.
And we do have screenings in English department now. I have joined there as a project fellow in a project that tries to enhance film and theatre studies in the department. Now we dont have to wheel the TV from CALTS [by the way, that’s where I finished my PhD] anymore. If you havnt visited the university in the recent past, all of Humanities is shifted to a new building with a common auditorium where screenings [besides seminars and other things] happen with the help of computer and an LCD projector. I dont know where you are currently, but if you are passing by here anytime, check out yourself.

Thanks for the update on adaptations. and Omakara is Othello.

It was good reading your blog and getting to know that movies are still being screened at the Dept. We had started the film screenings in 1997 and we used to wheel the TV from CALTS before the Dept. decided to buy one for us. I was told that the screenings had stopped.

Your listing of the adaptations has been very helpful. I will look out for some of them. By the way, there is a slip as you would have realized. Omkara is an adaptation of Othello and have you checked out Roman Polanski’s Macbeth.
bye
Sujit

Thanks for searching me out.

How do I relate to Kerala?
I was born there and lived there till I got out for higher studies. I did my PhD on the same region [more of it is given here in the research page]. I still read, write and think about the region in various ways.

Good to hear about your attempt at the satellite television channel. One of my friends have been anchoring for an online Malayalam television channel. But I have no idea in what ways can I contribute to your attempt. Please tell me more.
