We were: A team of colleagues
It was just like a summer vacation, a return to those much awaited school holidays to run around, fall in mud, dip in pools, pluck sour mangoes – just that it all feels very nostalgic after a decade of city life. Jenukallu is really getaway for a weekend. It was hot summer day, but we still felt good with fresh air and scenic beauty.
Jenukkallu gudda is second highest peak in Karnataka, after Mulyanagiri. We were told that the honey (Jenu) combs on the top of the hill are worshipped.
We went to Jenukkallu as a team from office. We were looking for a weekend getaway, that is not too hot in summer. Jenukallu fit the bill, literally! We reached before noon, thanks to the extremely good roads and our overspeeding driver. The hills were warming up.
We stayed at Jenukallu Valley Resort. Four modern cottages in the midst of 300 acre plantation, paddy fields at the base of Jenukallu hills. We reached much before lunch time, to a welcoming drink of lemon and ginger. After settling down into our very modern spacious cottages, we went for lunch. All the local food items we had thorough out our stay were divinely delicious, but anything else like chappathi or pulao were avoidable. That is a tip for your choice.
Slush volleyball – where falling was more fun than hitting the ball
Walk through the paddy fields
short breaks at the streams
more of play in water than bathing
